Description
607 Squadron started life on 1st of April 1982 as 111(Seaburn) Detached Flight, based in a hut where the current HQ is sited. On its eleventh anniversary the detached flight had grown in number and in status, becoming 607 (Wearmouth) Squadron, the number used to link the new squadron to 607 (County Durham) Squadron RAF Auxillary that fought during WWII, which was based at what is now the Nissan car plant.
